This morning, I went to the beach to go for a run and get some fresh air.

The first thing I saw didn’t look alive. It looked wrong. Alien. I froze mid-step, heart pounding, alone on a nearly empty beach with this soft, shapeless creature pulsing near the waterline. Every instinct told me not to touch it. But I couldn’t walk away. I took photos, zoomed in, searched, asked

It stayed there, gently moving with each breath of the tide, as if deciding whether to return to the sea or let me keep staring. The longer I watched, the more it felt like I was intruding on something fragile and strange. Its body wasn’t like a fish or a crab; it was soft, flowing, almost like a living piece of the ocean itself that had washed ashore by mistake.

Back home, I sent the photos to people who knew about marine life and dove into online forums. When the answer finally came, it felt surreal: a sea hare. Not a monster, not an alien, but a delicate marine snail without a shell, vulnerable and beautiful in its own odd way. That morning run turned into something else entirely—a quiet reminder that the world still holds creatures we can’t name at first sight, and that wonder often looks weird before it makes sense.
